"For more than seven years, Limo has been ensconced among distance running's elite. His breakthrough came in 2000 when he ran 27:04 for 10,000 meters, finishing just behind Paul Tergat with the year's second-fastest time. A year later he defeated Haile Gebrselassie in a sprint finish, breaking the world 15K record by more than 30 seconds. But he was not taken seriously until he changed his focus to the marathon. With four victories in seven starts he has become one of the most successful marathon runners of this era.
