I picked this book up while on my Thanksgiving vacation and I had a hard time putting it down and when I got to the end, I was disappointed it was over.Robert Kaplan travels to Yemen, Columbia, Mongolia, The Philippines, Afghanistan, Fort Bragg, Camp Lejeune, the Horn of Africa and Iraq all the while embedding himself with the American Military.
You learn of the military's goals, objectives and strategies in each country and you get to meet the fighting men and women advancing US interests abroad.
It is a fascinating and sweeping look at our military culture, history and traditions.
I am eagerly anticipating the next book!
