"Judah, your brothers will praise you;
your hand will be on the neck of your enemies;
your father's sons will bow down to you.
You are a lion's cub, O Judah;
you return from the prey, my son.
Like a lion he crouches and lies down,
like a lioness—who dares to rouse him?
The scepter will not depart from Judah,
nor the ruler's staff from between his feet,
until he comes to whom it belongs
and the obedience of the nations is his.

Point of Interest:
850 years after the death of Jacob (aka Israel), a descendant of Judah, named David, will become the greatest king in the history of Israel. 1010 years after that, another descendant of Judah, Jesus of Nazareth, will be born.
Genesis 49:8-12 is thought by many to be a prophesy about Jesus 1859 years before he was born. For that reason, Jesus is sometimes referred to as "The Lion of Judah".
It is also this imagery that led CS Lewis to depict the Christ figure, Aslan, in his Chronicles of Narnia series, as a lion.
