Keep Swimmin'

About a month ago we were very fortunate to visit with friends in Sacramento. While we were there, we all beat the heat by taking a trip to the local rec center. This was Annabelle's first swim and having been a competitive swimmer in High School, I was very interested to see how she would react.

She loved it. She giggled and splashed and laughed the whole time. It was so great.

I saw a video a while back in which a wheelchair user related how he has to constantly struggle against gravity whenever he moves from his bed to his wheelchair to the car etc and what a total relief it was to spend time in the water where he was weightless.

With Annie liking the water as much as she seems to, I suppose we should start scouting out a pool close to home - maybe swimming lessons? Can you even take swimming lessons if you can't kick? Who knows.

But she sure seems to love it . . . .

Hey Linden's!! Hope all is well!! Yes they do have lessons, infact Anthony attends lessons paid for by Challenged Athletes at the Mission Valley YMCA. They are private lessons, the gentlemen that gives him classes has a sibling with Cerebral Palsey so he has a perspective of special needs. He teaches him to dip his face under water, to wall crawl, blow bubbles, and pulling himself out of water. I would love to have Annabelle in classes with Anthony that would fun for them....Jessica Nunez
