CS Lewis

I remember the first time I read the Chronicles of Narnia. My mom had take my little brother and I on a weekend vacation up the coast from LA to Santa Barbara. My mom bought me the box set and I sprawled out in the back seat of the Honda hatchback and read them the whole way home.

The more I got to know CS Lewis in college, the more fascinated I became with his logic, his theology and him as a person.

I saw Shadowlands in the theatre when it came out and now own it.

Don't let the sappy preview fool you - it is a remarkable love story but not for the reasons you may think . . .

I recently watched Beyond Narnia and just finished Jack a Life of CS Lewis by George Sayer.
I loved the whole thing. One of those books that you finish only to find you have listed 15 more books to read afterwards . . .

I marked some passages that I intend to post over the next few days - definitely worth checking out.

Have you read "A Severe Mercy" by Sheldon Vanauken? While he and his wife, Davy, were in college, they met and became friends with Lewis. It is a phenomenal story about love, grief, finding God, and his friendship with Lewis (hello - talk about a handy friend to have for the "finding God" department). Very rich book.
