People with SB have historically had a latex allergy which means that we have to be on a general lookout for all things latex - including most balloons. This past weekend we went to a birthday party that had non-latex balloons and each child got to take a couple home.
Annie has never really seen balloons before and she loves them. She been playing with these two all week . . . .

Wow, where did they get NON latex balloons!?? We've had a problem here because Grace wants balloons and I have to tell her "not in the house". We do buy the mylar ones, but they aren't like the regular balloons, they are like plastic bags.
COOL!

This made me cry like the dickens... then smile like the dickens... that photo is great.
Hi, what type of wheelchair is that that Annie has? Max is 2 and may be starting preschool at 2.5 - we need to think about chairs! And what a thoughtful person to get the latex free balloons, do you know where they got them? Thanks! Jeanine
The chair is a do it yourself star car: http://www.waisman.wisc.edu/~rowley/sb-kids/dme-dyi-star-car.html . Ous is on loan from our therapy group.
Not sure where the balloons came from - it think they bought them at a party store that delivered them already inflated.
