She Fights For Her Life

I was reminded of this video today.

Aside from the whole thing being BEAUTIFUL, it reminds me that there are actually people amongst us for whom getting dressed and going out are DEATH-DEFYING events (I have no idea if this is what the artist intended).

We tend to pooh-pooh people with anxiety disorders as "soft", "weak" or "quitters" let me tell you, they are anything but weak and they are certainly not quitters. Take all the anxiety you feel in a typical day and double it - triple it - quadruple it and on and on and on. When was the last time you were convinced that walking out your door would kill you - yet you did it anyway?

And She fights for her life
As she puts on her coat
And she fights for her life on the train
She looks at the rain
As it pours

And she fights for her life
As she goes in a store
With a thought she has caught
By a thread
She pays for the bread
And She goes...
Nobody knows

Or take a road trip, get on a plane, walk into a crowded room, speak in a crowded room - I was talking with 3 moms the other day, 3, and I mentioned my bouts with anxiety and their responses were - "Been there", "I hate those times", and "Ain't it a bitch?" One of the moms is a psychologist. I have found the more open I am about it the more open others are.

I watched this the other day but couldn't comment. I love it. Very beautiful (both the song and the video).

I have struggled with extreme anxiety at a few different points in my life (though not in a couple years, praise the Lord) and I know how terrifying everything is when you're in that season. Man, it makes life not fun.

Great video.
